Wi-Fi 6 vs 6E vs 7 — and when a mesh system actually helps
Wi-Fi 6 uses 2.4GHz and 5GHz; 6E adds the 6GHz band; Wi-Fi 7 adds wider channels and Multi-Link Operation (MLO). Wi-Fi can't exceed your internet plan's speed, so on plans up to about 500Mbps Wi-Fi 6 is usually enough. If signal is weak at the far end of your home, a mesh system (several units forming one network) usually helps more than a pricier single router.
Router box numbers like "up to 10Gbps" are not real-world speeds. Start from what your home needs.
Generations in one line each
Wi-Fi 6 — 2.4GHz and 5GHz, better efficiency with many devices
Wi-Fi 6E — Wi-Fi 6 plus the less congested 6GHz band
Wi-Fi 7 — wider channels and MLO, which combines bands at once
Using 6GHz requires both the router and your phone/laptop to support 6E or 7.

Adding units that form one network beats one expensive router here. Some add-on units need an existing system of the same brand (e.g., the eero add-on is listed as requiring an existing eero network).

Q. Will a Wi-Fi 7 router make my internet faster?
Not beyond your plan's speed, and your devices must support Wi-Fi 7 to use its features. The gain is biggest on 1Gbps+ plans with supporting devices.
Q. One room has weak signal. Should I just buy a better router?
If distance and walls are the problem, mesh units usually work better than replacing one router.
